WHAT DO I WEAR?
Please wear something comfortable to class. Shorts are preferred as it allows for better grip on the poles when sitting, climbing etc. If you are not comfortable wearing shorts, you may wear gym pants that are easy to roll up for moves that require extra skin. A tight-fitting top is best, however you may wear whatever you are comfortable with. It is essential for you not to wear any lotion on the days that you pole dance, as it makes the pole slippery and will inhibit you and fellow dancers who uses that pole to achieve any moves on the day (even traces of lotion/oils/creams can be dangerous). We dance bare foot but if you wish to wear shoes, ballet shoes are permitted. Please Remember to remove all jewellery as it scratches the pole and may hamper your grip.
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING ELSE?
Bottle of water, yoga matt and a sweat towel as well as any grip aids you wish to use. (This can be ordered and purchaced from the studio should you need them).
WILL POLE DANCING HELP ME LOSE WEIGHT?
ABSOLUTELY! Pole dancing is a great way to tone and build muscle. It is a full body workout especially focussed on upper body and core strength. This is guaranteed to get you in shape.
HOW BIG IS THE CLASS?
A Maximum of 2 people per pole to ensure maximum attention and fun. Classes are thus allowed a maximum of 8 people.
IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT FOR STUDENTS?
We offer a wide range of classes, UNFORTUNATELY you may not attend adult classes if you are under the age of 16 and parental consent is required for anyone between the ages of 16 and 18. Kiddies pole ranges from ages 5 – 15 with written parental consent. The are now age limit, you can never be too old.
ARE MEN ALLOWED?
The regular classes scheduled are Ladies ONLY, however men are more than welcome if they are part of a once off group booking or require a private lesson or group lesson if there are sufficient numbers (minimum 4) to run a class.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A CLASS?
All missed classes you are welcome to catch up by attending another class as a make u class within the same month, lessons are not permitted to be carried over to the next month.
DO I HAVE TO STRIP AND ARE THERE SPECTATORS?!
NO, absolutely not. The studio is private however please be mindful of your fellow pole buddies and wear sufficient coverage, E.G. no underwear or indecent pole clothing such as G-strings or severe cleavage revealing items are permitted.
I HAVE PREVIOUS POLE EXPERIENCE, WHICH LEVEL SHOULD I ATTEND?
People transferring from other pole studios or who are self-taught are welcome to join. Please contact us for advice on which of our level would suit your skills best.
WHAT IF I CAN NO LONGER ATTEND POLE DANCING CLASSES?
If you no longer wish to attend pole dancing but have signed a contract, we require a payment for the remainder of your contract, however, if you are unable to attend for any reasons beyond your control, E.G. Pregnancy, injury or relocation we require proof of such and then you will not be liable for payment of the remainder of your contract.
CAN I POLE DANCE IF I AM PREGNANT?
With written consent from your doctor you may continue to pole dance, but this is at your own risk.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANNOT DO ANY OF THE MOVES?
Pole dancing takes a little while to master and once you have developed increased strength everything will start to become easier. You need to be patient with your body and not compare yourself to anyone else. Some moves may be harder for you than others and if we can, we will give you an alternative to practice instead. It is also completely normal to be nervous for your first class. Being nervous makes you sweat a bit more so your grip will not be the best, but the next time you come to class you will know what to expect and you won’t be as nervous. As with everything in life, the more you practise, the better you get.
HOW DO YOU ADVANCE FROM LEVEL TO LEVEL?
Everyone starts out in the Pole Fundamentals classes. The moves are on rotation so within a 3 month period you would have covered all the basics. However, at the end of that 3 month period you may still not be ready to move to the next level. We do assessments, so if you feel you would like to advance a little quicker then ask us and we will determine if your strength levels are up to scratch and then move you into the next class. Once in the Intermediate class it works on the same principle, except that the moves are a lot trickier and take a little longer to master. It usually takes a full year to move from this class to the advanced class, but it could be shorter (or longer) depending on the individual. Everyone is encouraged to move at a pace they are comfortable with. Each person is different and has different strengths.
DO I NEED MY OWN POLE TO TAKE POLE CLASSES?
No, you do not need to own your own pole. We provide poles in the classes for your use; however, it is advantageous for you to have a pole at home – as it affords you the opportunity to practise daily. When you are ready to order your own pole, please chat to us as we do have a brand of poles that we promote at the studios.
IS THERE RISK OF INJURY?
As with any sport, there is always a possibility of injury. You will move at your own pace in the class, giving your body time to develop the strength required. You WILL get a few bruises and experience ‘pole burn’ but these are a small price to pay for all the other benefits you will gain. The other fitness classes we offer may also cause some minor bruising (nothing serious) but you will get stronger and as you improve, the bruising will be a thing of the past.

If you are asthmatic please bring your own inhaler and let your instructor know where it is so she can access it if needs be.
While you are perfecting new moves on the pole there is a risk that you will get bruises and/or friction burns. Some people bruise more easily than others.
If you have any medical conditions, injuries or are worried about any aspect of your health that may prevent you from doing physical activity you must consult your doctor prior to attending any class. Please advise your instructor of any health conditions at the start of the class. All participants must sign a disclaimer to waive liability before starting a class or course.
